Important Information

  • PARENTS AND LEGAL GUARDIANS of all individual registrations must first create an account
    • During the registration process, it will ask the legal guardian or parent to provide the registration information for at least ONE child
  • TEAM REGISTRATIONS must create an account with at least one participant
    • Add multiple participants for multiple teams in various divisions
    • We have spread-headed the team registration process. When a coach or club administrator registers a team, after registration is complete, you will be able to select Visit Team Page from your account dashboard. Once there, click on Roster, then Manage Roster Invites. The Manage Roster Invites webpage is where you will invite via e-mail all the players and staff for you team.
  • PAPER REGISTRATIONS will continue to be accepted
  • REFUNDS
    • ALL REFUND REQUESTS must be submitted in writing to H.Y.B.A., Inc., Attn: Refund Request, P.O. 361, Ellicott City, MD 21041. Include your Registration Confirmation #/Number (if registered online), reason for refund, and signature.
    • NO REFUNDS after the registration deadline. All honored refunds are subject to handling and processing fees of $50.00 for individuals and $250.00 for teams.
    • IF YOUR REFUND REQUEST IS APPROVED, HYBA will mail a check to you (regardless of original payment method), minus any applicable handling and processing fees. A refund check will take three (3) to five (5) weeks to process after the receipt of the mailed refund request.

Please note the following:
  • The best way to ensure your daughter, son, or team is registered for the Spring or Fall seasons is to register as early as possible.  The Spring season deadline is March 1; and the Fall season deadline is August 1. HYBA makes every possible attempt to place as many young people as possible.

Howard Youth Basketball Association, Inc. (H.Y.B.A., Inc./HYBA) provides the best youth basketball program in the state of Maryland.  Founded in 1992 and originally composed of 192 young people, HYBA has grown to serving over 3,000 kids per year between its Spring and Fall basketball programs. HYBA provides basketball programs for both boys and girls and recreational and travel players.  HYBA continues to instill its young athletes with the tenants of life through various competitive, game-only basketball programs.

PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION BEFORE REGISTERING A TEAM

ABOUT TEAM ROSTERS
We have spread-headed the team registration process. When a coach or club administrator registers a team, after registration is complete, you will be able to select Visit Team Page from your account dashboard. Once there, click on Roster, then Manage Roster Invites. The Manage Roster Invites webpage is where you will invite via e-mail all the players and staff for you team.

SUPER IMPORTANT
For a coach or team administrator to register a team, one must have at least one child assign to the account. To add a child to your account, select My Account, then Add Participant from the "..." drop down menu.

FINAL NOTE ABOUT TEAM REGISTRATIONS
Due to the new registration process, do not register your team until your roster is complete. You will not be able to add additional players once your team registration is complete.

TIPS ABOUT TEAM REGISTRATIONS

- Do not instruct your players to register as individuals.
- Do not submit a team registration, then pull from those already registered as individuals.
- Do not continually add players once your Team Roster is submitted. Only those players listed on your roster and with registered accounts on www.HYBA.org will be allowed to participate.
Not following the previously mentioned guidelines creates an overhead burden against the foundational principles of HYBA.

ABOUT FORMING A TEAM
Teams are composed of, at a minimum, six players. For teams with less than six players, teams may be assigned additional players from the general registration of the applicable grade division. To guarantee league placement of one’s team, teams must be submitted before before the registration deadlines: for the Spring season, the deadline is March 1; and for the Fall season, the deadline is August 1.

ABOUT LEAGUE PLACEMENT
Unless special circumstances exist, teams will be placed in the league of their oldest player.  For example, if a team has all high school freshman and one high school sophomore, then the team would automatically be placed in the high school sophomore division. To know if your team is eligible for a special circumstance exception, you must receive oral confirmation from the Director of HYBA at (410)461-7694.

ABOUT COACHES FOR TEAMS
All Head Coaches must be 21 years of age before the start of the applicable Spring or Fall Season. One coach per team present at every game must be 21 years of age before the start of either the Spring or Fall Season.

REGISTERING A TEAM ONLINE

We have spread-headed the team registration process. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR PLAYERS COMPLETE THIS NECESSARY STEP. PLAYERS WHO DO NOT ACCEPT TEAM INVITATIONS WILL BE UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM ON YOUR TEAM.

REGISTERING A TEAM VIA ON PAPER / MAIL

  • A check in the amount of $500.00, which covers the registration of the entire team in the Spring or Fall seasons
  • A complete Team Roster mailed in with the registration fee and e-mailed to [email protected]
  • Head Coaches instruct all parents and legal guardians of all players to agree to all terms and register an account on www.HYBA.org.
